March 2009 - March 6th surgery at our local Vet was cancelled and we were formally referred to the Alta Vista Animal Hospital. Our Vet explained that this was Cider's best chance for success and she should be seen by a Surgical Oncologist. Dr. Liptak's site can be viewed here:

Dear Cider's Mom,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this blog. Our labrador had a sarcoma removed from his leg two weeks ago and the sutures haven't held and we now have a big gaping hole to deal with. My heart is heavy, but we are fighting the battle with twice daily dressings (necessary at this time due to the amount of wound leakage). Although it is looking quite pink, no horrid discharge - just clear - no horrid smell, and although our vet thinks it will eventually heal - it's going to be a long haul. It heartens me to find your similar battle and to see a healthy, healed leg at the end of the road.
I'm so glad for you that Cider is well and cross our fingers we can get there with our boy, Max. His brother, Josh, often comes and lies beside Max when we do his dressings, resting his head on Max by way moral support. It's quite poignant to see.
Again, thank you - very much.
